Transgender Fife run meetings that are intended to be an opportunity for people to socialise, as themselves, in a safe environment. We encourage interaction between attendees, and try to ensure that there is always some relevant activity at each meeting (such as professional make-up guidance, speakers, etc). One thing for certain is that we are a friendly group who always have a relaxing time and a lot of laughs.
Our mission statement is “A positive and empowering space for the Fife transgender community”, and we aim to provide this via our meetings. We welcome all trans Fifers, including those who are non-binary or intersex.
Meetings are on a monthly basis on the first Saturday afternoon of each month, currently alternating venues between Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline. There is a private changing space available for those who require it.
We set a lower age limit of 16 as we feel the existing youth groups can cater more suitably for those under that age and we can then hope to offer people continued support and social opportunities.
We prefer an initial email contact from anyone wishing to come along to the group so that we can know how/where they heard of us and learn a little more about them before advising them of the exact meeting location. We take this precaution in the interest of safety for the group members. If someone wishes to be accompanied by a friend or family member for their first visit we are quite happy for that to happen.
We work closely with other equality groups in our area. We may also be able to offer workplace training regarding transgender issues for support workers in other parts of the third sector in Fife. Please contact us via our website if your organisation would be interested in this.
