Me and T is a community group for friends, family and partners of trans people. We currently meet on the fourth Sunday of every month from 2pm to 4pm in Edinburgh.
LGBT Health and Wellbeing,
9 Howe Street,
This community group is run by Amanda and Elizabeth, both cis partners of trans people. Previous group sessions have included partners, parents and friends of trans people; both during and after a period of social/medical transition. We have also had leaders of other LGBT groups contact us, who are seeking information and support on how to better relate to the trans population in Scotland.
During a group, we usually discuss any recent news or legal developments that might affect us and our loved ones. We often watch a short youtube video that is relevant to our experience. Discussion topics vary according to who is in the group, and we leave things open for people to share what they want to, but for an idea of possible topics, we have had discussions including: coming out to extended family, marriage and civil partnerships, becoming parents when your partner is trans, sexual orientation and how that may change, activism, legal restraints and many others!
